Sharing a common faith in and relationship with Jesus Christ, we come together to explore and grow in our faith. ULCSC offers opportunities for study, group building, relationship building, service, and friendship in a caring and supportive atmosphere affirming both our unity and our diversity.

Students of University Lutheran is a network of current and past students, with ties to OU professors, faculty, and staff. We gather each Wednesday at 6 p.m. of the OU school year for a home-cooked meal, education, fellowship, support, and worship.

Our campus and community are full of talented musicians and vocalists.

God wants us to be good stewards of our environment. We continue to share information about how each of us can be greener.

Most recently we’ve seen an explosion in engagement with our Styrofoam recyling.

This year we will surpass 1,000, 33-gallon bags filled with either food/drink or packaging styrofoam dropped off at the church so we can deliver it to a recyling facility in Ada.

We are involved in refugee support in our congregation (Voices for the Voiceless), in the City of Norman (Norman Coalition for Refugee Support), and nationally through the ELCA’s AMMPARO network.

Voices for the Voiceless is a team within our congregation that works to educate, inspire, and lead the congregation in all matters related to refugees and immigration. We do this by hosting notable speakers, holding special worship services for refugee awareness, and promoting fundraising to support refugee causes.

As a member of the Norman Coalition for Refugee Support we coordinate with eight other houses of worship to settle and support refugees in our community. NCRS works with partner agencies from local to international scopes in helping refugees from all over the world find safety, support, and meaningful livelihoods in Norman.

AMMPARO is the ELCA’s global work to help refugee minors through protection, advocacy, and representation.

Prayers and donations of money, time, and new and gently used items are welcome.

We have several ongoing ministries to battle food insecurity.

Members donate food items at the church for delivery to Norman’s Food & Shelter and drop items off at the OU Food Pantry just down the street.

We also sponsor teams to raise funds at the annual Cleveland County/Norman Crop Hunger Walk. Others prepare meals to take to neighbors in need, and those with green thumbs donate fresh produce that members enjoy while making free-will donations to Food & Shelter.

Our quilting team meets on the second Saturday of the month to cut, piece and sew quilts. Some members work at home, also.

We’re part of the Lutheran World Relief effort to deliver tens of thousands of handmade quilts to people in need around the world. Find out more at http://www.lwr.org/

WoW selects one book each month to read and discuss.

We welcome women of all ages to join us for these uplifting (and oftentimes hilarious) book discussions in the fellowship hall from noon-1 p.m. every Friday except in December.

On the third Wednesday of each month at noon, all women are invited to bring a Bible, lunch if you like, and the "Gather" magazine if you're a subscriber, to the church high school room (classroom 6).

Why are we WELCA—because our church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
